Starting from our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lemediterranee-argeles.fr\/en\/\">campsite in Argel\u00e8s-sur-Mer<\/a>, Camping Le M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e, this walk is one of the <strong>most beautiful nature outings of your stay<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Routes, equipment, swimming: here is everything you need to know before you go.<\/p>\n<h2>Ouille Beach in 5 points<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Ouille Beach belongs to the commune of Collioure, very close to the border with Argel\u00e8s-sur-Mer.<\/li>\n<li>The coastal path connects the le Racou district to the cove in 3 km, or about a 45-minute walk.<\/li>\n<li>A mix of sand and pebbles lines this small bay sheltered by shale cliffs.<\/li>\n<li>As for swimming, the cove operates without a lifeguard station: everyone swims at their own risk.<\/li>\n<li>Closed-toe shoes, water, and a hat are the basic equipment, as shade is rare along the route.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>A wild cove at the gateway to the C\u00f4te Vermeille<\/h2>\n<p> <strong>Ouille Beach<\/strong> marks the transition between two landscapes. To the north stretch the long sandy beaches of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lemediterranee-argeles.fr\/argeles-sur-mer\/\">Argel\u00e8s-sur-Mer<\/a>; to the south begin the rocky coves of the C\u00f4te Vermeille. Part of Collioure, this small bay is tucked into a jagged coastline, where the <strong>dark shale plunges directly into crystal-clear water<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The setting consists of just a few elements: a sand and pebble beach, cliffs covered in Mediterranean vegetation, and the sea on the horizon. Furthermore, pedestrian access naturally filters the number of visitors. As a result, even in the height of summer, the <strong>atmosphere is much more peaceful<\/strong> than on the large urban beaches.<\/p>\n<p>For snorkeling enthusiasts, the rocks on either side of the cove provide a great spot for observation.<\/p>\n<h2>Reaching Ouille Beach on foot via the coastal path<\/h2>\n<p>Two starting points allow you to reach <strong>Ouille Beach on foot<\/strong>, both on the coastal path that runs along the coast between Argel\u00e8s and Collioure.<\/p>\n<h3>From le Racou, the family route<\/h3>\n<p>The easiest start is at the le Racou beach parking lot. The le Racou-Ouille section is <strong>3 km long and takes about 45 minutes to walk<\/strong>. Along the way, the path passes the le Racou orientation table, then follows the Porteils coves and their small pebble beaches. The route is suitable for children, though there are a few steep sections along the cliff edge.<\/p>\n<h3>From Collioure, via the forts<\/h3>\n<p>In the other direction, the path leaves Collioure heading north and passes near Fort Carr\u00e9 and Fort Rond. The full le Racou-Collioure link is <strong>4.4 km on a well-marked shale path<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Good to know: shade is rare on the coastal path. In summer, the Argel\u00e8s-sur-Mer Tourist Office advises walking in the morning or late afternoon, with a bottle of water and a hat. On the way back to le Racou, the evening light colors the shale cliffs: a beautiful finale to a day at the beach!<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>What to pack for a day at Ouille Beach?<\/h2>\n<p>A day at <strong>Ouille Beach<\/strong> should be prepared like a short hike, as the cove is located away from shops and services. Before leaving, our campsite team at Camping Le M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e recommends that guests pack in their bags:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Closed-toe walking shoes ensure a good grip on the shale.<\/li>\n<li>A well-filled water bottle per person covers the way there, the swim, and the return.<\/li>\n<li>A hat and sunscreen protect from the sun on a very exposed route.<\/li>\n<li>A mask and snorkel transform a swim into a session for observing the rocky seabed.<\/li>\n<li>A trash bag allows you to take everything back and preserve this fragile site.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Our advice: for a first discovery with children, the le Racou-Ouille round trip is more than enough. Allow for 1 hour and 30 minutes of walking in total, with a long swimming break in the middle, and the whole family will return in great shape.
